Why Give

For nearly 45 years, Circle Health Services (formerly The Free Clinic) has provided quality health care and related services in a financially barrier-free manner to those who lack appropriate alternatives, and advocated for policy changes that make health care available to all.  We remain one of the few Northeast Ohio health care agencies to offer financially barrier-free, high quality health care to the poor and medically underserved in our region.  Established as a hotline in 1970 by a group of community citizens concerned about the health and welfare of young adults, Circle Health Services quickly began serving the broader health needs of the community.  Today our comprehensive medical, dental and behavioral health services are provided in a modern 34,000 sq. ft. facility located in the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland.  It is equipped with 18 exam rooms, a dental clinic, therapy rooms, a fully functioning medical laboratory and a medication dispensary.

In order to succeed in our mission, Circle Health Services must strategically leverage its paid staff of 60 with a corps of approximately 500 volunteers, in-kind donations of goods and services, and operating support.  This model enables us to provide a comprehensive array of life-saving services to thousands of Northeast Ohio residents each year.  Our practices have served as a model for other similar facilities around the nation, and we remain a pioneer in navigating the changing health care environment.
